Fallen Angels Posters
A poster diptych displaying my interpretation of 1 Corinthians 11:10, which says, “It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own head, because of the angels.”
The way I see it, the important word “because” let’s us see Paul’s reasoning in telling women to wear a head-covering. It is rooted in the fact that there are angels. But what’s the connection there? Why are angels connected to head-coverings? I believe he was referring to the fallen angels of Genesis 6, who’s sexual relations with women created the Nephilim. Paul was simply saying that a head covering was important because it showed that a woman was either under the authority of her husband or of Jesus. And either way that communicated to potential fallen angels that she was not to be pursued, thus avoiding more Nephilim. I chalk this up to a cultural thing and probably not something to be considered today but I thought the connection to Genesis 6 was really interesting and it inspired me to do some design work.
